The Skating Club of New York and the Skyliners Synchronized Skating Team are thrilled to host the 2020 Eastern Synchronized Skating Championships, January 15-18, at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York.

Four organizations will represent the Skating Club of New York at sectionals:

  • Gotham City Synchro
  • CP Ice
  • Team Rinx
  • The Skyliners

Together, they will put eleven lines and 194 skaters on the ice!

Gotham City Synchro Masters Line

The Gotham City Synchro Masters line won silver at its first competition of the season, the 2019 Boston Synchronized Skating Classic.

Gotham City Synchro Adult Line

The Gotham City Synchro Adult line won pewter at its first competition of the season, the 2019 Boston Synchronized Skating Classic.

The Skyliners Novice Black Line

Skyliners Novice Black won gold at the 2019 Boston Synchronized Skating Classic and bronze at the 2020 Colonial Synchronized Skating Classic. It placed sixth at 24th Annual Dr. Richard Porter Classic. The Skyliners won the US national novice title three times (2019, 2018, 2017) and the national bronze medal four times (2015, 2014, 2013 and 2011).

The Skyliners Novice Blue Line

Skyliners Novice Blue won gold at the 2019 Glacier Falls Fall Classic and 2019 Dr. Richard Porter Synchronized Skating Classic, and won bronze at the 2019 Boston Synchronized Skating Classic. The Skyliners won the US novice title three times (2019, 2018, 2017) and the national bronze medal four times (2015, 2014, 2013 and 2011).

The Skyliners Intermediate Line

Skyliners Intermediate won silver at the 2019 Dr. Richard Porter and 2019 Boston Synchronized Skating Classics, and pewter at the 2020 Colonial Synchronized Skating Classic. The Skyliners won the US intermediate title in 2016 and 2017, silver in 2011 and 2018, bronze in 2013 and 2019, and pewter in 2012.

The Skyliners Juvenile Line

Skyliners Juvenile won gold at the 2019 Boston Synchronized Skating Classic and 2019 Terry Conners Open, and silver at the 2020 Colonial Synchronized Skating Classic. Skyliners Juvenile has won five National titles (2011, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019) and Eastern Sectionals nine consecutive times (2011-19). It won silver at Nationals in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018.

CP Ice Intermediate Line

CP Ice Intermediate won silver at the 2019 Terry Conners Open. It also competed at the 2019 Boston and 2020 Colonial Synchronized Skating Classics, placing eleventh and tenth, respectively.

CP Ice Open Juvenile Line

CP Ice Open Juvenile won pewter at the 2019 Terry Conners Open. It also competed at the 2019 Boston and 2020 Colonial Synchronized Skating Classics, placing ninth and seventh, respectively. CP Ice won the open juvenile eastern sectional title in 2016, the only SCNY team to have done so.

CP Ice Pre-Juvenile Line

CP Ice Pre-Juvenile won pewter at the 2019 Terry Conners Open. It also competed at the 2019 Boston and 2020 Colonial Synchronized Skating Classics, placing seventh and eighth, respectively. CP Ice Pre-Juvenile won pewter at the 2016 Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Championships.

Team Rinx Open Juvenile Line

Team Rinx Open Juvenile won gold at the 2019 Essex Synchronized Skating Classic and placed fifth at the 2019 Terry Conners Open. This is the line's second year of competition.

Team Rinx Preliminary Line

Team Rinx Preliminary won pewter at the 2019 Essex Synchronized Skating Classic and placed seventh at the 2019 Terry Conners Open. This is the line's first year of competition.

Skyliners Senior competes January 16-18 at its second international assignment of the season, the 16th Annual ISU Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy in Zagreb, Croatia. Good luck, SCNY and all Team USA representatives!

The Skyliners Synchronized Skating Senior Line

Skyliners Senior are the defending US Synchronized Skating silver medalists. They won silver last season at the ISU Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy and placed eighth in their first appearance at the ISU World Synchronized Skating Championships. The team has won two silver medals at nationals (2018, 2019), three bronze medals (2015, 2016, 2017) and one pewter medal (2013). The team's first season was 2012.

The Skyliners' first international assignment of the season was the ISU Challenger Series California Cup, where they placed fifth. In addition to the California Cup and Zagreb Snowflakes Trophy, Skyliners Senior will represent the United States at the ISU Challenger Series Spring Cup in Milan, Italy.

SCNY member Audrey Shin competes January 10-13 at the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland. Good luck, Audrey and all members of the US Winter Youth Olympic team!

Audrey Shin is the 2019 US Figure Skating junior ladies' silver medalist, 2019 North Atlantic Regional junior ladies' champion, 2018 and 2019 Eastern Sectional junior ladies' silver medalist, 2017 Eastern Sectional and North Atlantic Regional novice ladies' champion, 2016 North Atlantic Regional novice ladies' bronze medalist, 2014 North Atlantic Regional intermediate ladies' champion and 2014 Eastern Sectional juvenile girls' bronze medalist. She placed twelfth this season at JGP Chelyabinsk, Russia.

Skyliners Junior competes January 11-13 at its second international assignment of the season, the 2020 ISU Britannia Cup in Nottingham, England. Good luck, SCNY and all Team USA representatives!

The Skyliners Synchronized Skating Junior Line

Skyliners Junior are the defending World Synchronized Skating bronze medalists and 2018 World Synchronized Skating silver medalists. They are the only US junior-level team to have earned medals at worlds. Skyliners Junior are the defending US Synchronized Skating Champions, having also won in 2011, 2015, 2017 and 2018. They won silver at their first international assignment of the season, the ISU Challenger Series California Cup in Irvine, California.

In addition to the California and Brittania Cup, Skyliners Junior will represent the United States this season at the ISU Challenger Series French Cup in Rouen.

SCNY members Avonley Nguyen and Vadym Kolesnik compete December 6-7 at the 2019 ISU Junior Grand Prix Final in Torino, Italy.

Avonley and Vadym are the 2019 US Figure Skating junior dance silver medalists, 2019 JGP USA, 2019 JGP Poland and 2018 JGP Slovenia champions, 2018 JGP Lithuania silver medalists, fourth place finishers at the 2019 ISU World Figure Skating Championships and fifth place finishers at the 2018 Junior Grand Prix final. This is their first season competing for the Skating Club of New York.

Ashley Tim are the 2019 US Figure Skating senior pairs champions, 2019 World Team Trophy champions, 2018 CS Ondrej Nepela champions, 2018 and 2019 US International Classic champions, 2018 ISU Four Continents silver medalists, 2018 Grand Prix Skate America bronze medalists, 2017 US Figure Skating senior pairs bronze medalists, 2017 World Team Trophy bronze medalists, and 2018 US pewter medalists. They placed fifth this season at Grand Prix Skate America and fourth at Grand Prix Internationaux de France.

Olivia is skating her second season in pairs after a successful career in singles. She is the 2015 US Figure Skating junior ladies' silver medalist and 2014 US Figure Skating Classic junior ladies' champion.

Mervin won the 2012 ISU World Figure Skating Championships senior pairs' bronze medal with Narumi Takahashi, representing Japan. The pair won silver at the ISU Grand Prix Rostelecom Cup and NHK Trophy (2010 and 2011) and gold at the 2010 ISU Junior Grand Prix Final. Before teaming with Olivia, Mervin skated four seasons with Marissa Castelli, winning bronze and silver at the 2016 and 2017 US Figure Skating Championships.

Olivia and Mervin placed fifth at CS Finlandia Trophy, their first international assignment.

Good luck to our skaters at the 2020 Eastern and Midwestern Sectional Singles Finals and 2020 U.S. Dance and Pairs Finals!


The U.S. Dance Final will be held concurrently with the Eastern Sectional Singles Final in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The U.S. Pairs Final will be held concurrently with the Midwestern Sectional Singles Final in Allen, Texas. Both competitions run November 13-16.

This is a change in the qualifying pipeline for US Figure Skating competitions from recent years. US Figure Skating explains the 2020 qualify structure here. For junior and senior-level skaters, this weekend's competitions are a qualifier for the 2020 US Figure Skating Championships, January 20-26, 2020, in Greensboro, North Carolina. For juvenile, intermediate and novice-level skaters, this weekend's competitions are the last USFS competition events for the season, except for those novice-level skaters who, based upon their performance this weekend, are invited to "skate up" as junior competitors in the 2020 US Figure Skating Championships.

Alexia is the 2017 Slovenian Open senior ladies' champion, the 2016 Gardena Spring Trophy junior ladies' champion, 2017 Eastern Sectional junior ladies' champion, 2016 US Figure Skating Championships novice ladies' silver medalist, and 2015 and 2016 Eastern Sectional novice ladies' champion. She won bronze at the 2017 Nebelhorn Trophy skating for Switzerland and was a member of the 2018 Swiss Olympic Team. She placed fourth overall at the 2018 Grand Prix Rostelecom Cup in Moscow after a third place performance in the short. She was fifth among junior ladies at the 2017 US Figure Skating Championships and placed sixth this year at the Challenger Series Autumn Classic in Oakville, Canada. She was ninth this season at Skate Canada.
