Congratulations to SCNY member Johnny Weir and associate member Gale Tanger on being inducted into the 2021 class of the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame. We are so proud of you!

Johnny Weir is a three-time consecutive U.S. Figure Skating champion, two-time Olympian, 2008 World bronze medalist, two-time Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, two-time Skating Magazine fan poll Skater of the Year, and the 2001 World Junior champion. He is currently NBC’s lead figure skating analyst along with 1998 Olympic champion Tara Lipinski.

Gale Tanger has been a figure skating judge and official for more than 50 years and is a three-time PSA Official of the Year. She and her husband Tom have been instrumental in helping make our Middle Atlantic Championships a success. She has dedicated her life to skating and skaters at every level always taking the time for a word of advice, suggestion or word of inspiration. Gale has also encouraged the next generation of officials to strive to embody the energy, passion, dedication and personal touch that she has brought to our sport and our club members.

Joining the Hall of Fame posthumously is Sandy (Schwomeyer) Lamb, the first female president of PSA, an Olympic level coach, and the founder and long-time director of the Special Olympics Skating Program. Sandy passed away in June
